Mahjong Scoring System: Earn More Points with Smart Moves!

Mahjong has various scoring systems, but the general principle is simple: the more complex your winning hand, the higher your score. Players earn points based on the combinations they create and how they achieve victory.

🔢 Basic Scoring Rules:

🏆 Winning the game – A standard Mahjong win earns 10 points.

🐉 Special tile sets – Forming a Pong (three identical tiles) of dragons or winds grants 10-20 points, depending on the tile.

🎨 Pure hand bonus – If your entire hand consists of tiles from a single suit (Bamboo, Circles, or Characters), you receive an additional 40-80 points.

🕵️ Secret hands – Certain hidden combinations, like an entire hand of Pongs (three identical tiles in each set), can yield 50+ points.

🎯 Self-drawn win bonus – If you complete your winning hand by drawing the final tile yourself instead of claiming a discarded tile, your total score is doubled (x2 multiplier).

💰 Scoring & Payment System:
When a player declares Mahjong, the other players must pay points to the winner. Depending on the game variation, this could be a fixed amount per player or a system where the losing players contribute based on the value of the winner’s hand. In some cases, a betting system determines the payout structure.

💡 Different Mahjong Variations, Different Rules
While specific scoring methods may vary across Mahjong versions, the fundamental rule remains: the player with the highest-value hand or the first to declare “Mahjong” wins the round!
